General

Why am I being contacted by Vertisure?

Your loan officer referred you to us so we can shop home insurance carriers on your behalf and get a policy in place before your closing. You’re not obligated to use us — we’re here to make a competitive offer.

Are you a licensed insurance agency?

Yes. Vertisure is an independent insurance agency licensed in all 48 contiguous U.S. states. Our license details are listed on our Licensing page and in the footer of every page.

Do I have to use you?

No. You’re always free to use any insurance company you prefer. We provide a quote so you can compare — the choice is yours.

Are you affiliated with my mortgage lender?

No. Vertisure is an independent insurance agency. We work with mortgage brokers and loan officers across the country, but we are not owned by, controlled by, or financially affiliated with any one lender.

Is my information safe?

Yes. We use your information only to shop a quote and place a policy if you choose to move forward. We don’t sell or share your contact details with third parties for marketing.

Getting a Quote

How long does it take to get a quote?

Most quotes are ready within one business day of your request. If your closing is sooner or your situation is unusual, we’ll flag the timing on our first call.

What information do you need from me?

Usually just your name, contact info, property address, and your estimated closing date. Your loan officer typically provides the rest of what we need from your mortgage application. We may follow up for a few specifics (year built, square footage, prior insurance) before finalizing the quote.

Will you check my credit?

Most homeowners insurance quotes use an insurance score that includes a soft credit check. Soft checks do not affect your credit score. We’ll let you know if a hard pull is ever required (it almost never is for our quotes).

How do I know I’m getting a competitive rate?

We shop your policy across multiple top-rated carriers and present the strongest combination of coverage and price we can find. We’re happy to walk you through how our quote compares to any other quote you’ve received.

Can I see my quote before agreeing to anything?

Yes. We send you the full quote — coverage, deductible, premium, and carrier — for you to review. You decide whether to move forward. No pressure, no surprise charges.

Coverage & Carriers

What carriers do you shop?

We work with carriers including Travelers, Nationwide, Progressive, Safeco, Stillwater, Allstate, Openly, Foremost, Encompass, Security Mutual, Broome, and more. The mix can vary by state. See our Carriers page for details.

What kind of policy will I get?

Most homeowners receive a standard HO-3 policy, which is the most common policy type for owner-occupied single-family homes. Condos, manufactured homes, and rentals use different policy forms (HO-6, etc.) — we’ll match you with the right type based on your property.

Can I customize my coverage?

Yes. We’ll quote a baseline and then adjust deductibles, coverage limits, and optional add-ons (water backup, jewelry riders, etc.) based on what matters to you. Tell us your priorities and we’ll show you the trade-offs.

What states are you licensed in?

All 48 contiguous United States. We’re not currently licensed in Alaska or Hawaii.

Closing & Beyond

How does Vertisure work with my title company?

Once you accept a quote, we send your declarations page and mortgagee information directly to your title company and lender. You don’t need to forward anything — we handle the paperwork on the closing side.

What if my closing date moves?

Tell us as soon as you know. We can adjust the policy’s effective date so your coverage starts the day you actually close, not the day we originally planned. Last-minute closing changes are common — we’re staffed for it.

How do I pay my premium?

Most carriers offer monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual payment options. Many homebuyers escrow their insurance with their mortgage payment — your lender will set this up at closing. We’ll walk you through your specific carrier’s options.

What if I have a claim?

You file your claim directly with your insurance carrier — they handle all claims service. We’re happy to help you understand the process or advocate on your behalf if needed. The carrier’s claims phone number will be on your declarations page.

Who do I call if something changes after closing?

Us. Renewals, address changes, adding a teen driver, refinancing — we’re still your agent. Email admin@vertisure.com or call (785) 775-5000 and we’ll take care of it.
